FoCo Girls Gone Derby are Back with a Vengeance 03/13/2010

Fort Collins’ home teams, Chanel Cartel & Deathrow Dolls, face off for the first time in 2010 on Saturday, March 13, at Rollerland. After a one-month off-season, Northern Colorado’s original roller derby league began training in January for what promises to be an eventful season. FoCo Girls Gone Derby has completely reorganized its travel team, formerly known as the Kung FU Donnas, and is looking forward to bouting competitively against other WFTDA-certified leagues this year. Stay tuned for an announcement of the team’s new name and look. FoCo also received an infusion of fresh blood with 25 recruits joining us in January. They will make their debut later this season.

Rocky Mountain Collegian Online 10/23/08

Derby dolls equipped with body pads, mouth guards and a thirst for victory will take the rink Saturday for the third annual "Black and Blue Ball" homecoming bout at Rollerland Skate Center. Instead of sporting their traditional derby garb, the skaters opted to wear formal attire to keep with the evening's homecoming theme. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as well.

Hundreds of American women are leading double lives; by day they are accountants, bartenders, teachers, students, even homemakers with sons and daughters of their own. At night, these women don battered helmets and anxiously tighten the laces on their brazened quad-style roller skates. Come jam time, their athletic alter egos take the form of "Tiki Torture," "Sequin Destroy" and "Scarlet Bloodletter."
